A world of romantic dishes for Valentine’s Day

Leo Foods as you may know is an international food wholesaler and retailer and we have a warehouse stocked with the essential ingredients for the successful cooking of dishes from a wide range of global cuisines, including Italian, Indian, Chinese, Mexican, Arabian and Spanish. We are also a major supplier of organic products on the Costa del Sol, as well as offering drinks and snacks. We provide a complete wholesale food and drinks service to the restaurant, bar and café trade, and if you’re a member of the public, we welcome you to our premises where you’ll find all those exotic ingredients mentioned in recipe books that you might not find in your local supermarket.

With St. Valentine’s Day coming up on Thursday, 14th February we thought it would be a good idea to share some ideas with you for a very special and romantic home-cooked meal. Our trade customers might also like to use some of our suggestions if you’re planning a Valentine’s themed evening and are looking for ideas for a ‘Special Menu’.

Italian romance

When it comes to a taste of romance, Italy is not surprisingly one of the first countries that comes to mind. It is hard to go wrong with Italian dishes and we have an extensive range of the pastas, including organic and top quality Arborio risotto rice, as well as the herbs, spices and sauces needed to give your meal a real Italian flavour. BBC Good Food offers 10 dishes for Valentine’s Day, including vegetarian options: all the recipes look delicious and you don’t need to be a professional chef to make them.

Valentine’s Tapas

We are living in Spain, so why not create a tasty selection of bite-sized Spanish dishes accompanied by some of Spain’s finest wines and cava for a romantic celebration. This selection of tapas from Food Network will take you beyond the traditional offerings in your local bar. At Leo Foods we supply all the staple ingredients needed for traditional Spanish recipes, including the essential spices and dried products.

The exotic East

While most people tend to think of France or Italy when romantic food is needed, we’d like to say that Indian food can also be romantic as writer Simon Laishram shows in his guide to a complete Valentine’s Indian menu that finishes with Delicious Bengali sweets called ‘misti’. If you haven’t tried Indian sweets, now might be the time to start; we have all the ingredients needed to flavour them and assure you that they are not difficult to make. We also have a superb range of frozen, chilled and ambient Indian products, including every spice you will ever need, plus naan bread, snacks and Cobra beer.

If you fancy trying your hand at Middle Eastern dishes we have the products need to serve up recipes from Morocco, Lebanon, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Tunisia. This extensive guide to Middle Eastern recipes should provide you with plenty of inspiration.  We can also supply the ingredients for Chinese dishes and we have an exciting range of Mexican food products, including nacho cheese and Spicy Sweet Chipotle sauce. A medley of Mexican treats accompanied by good tequila could be the basis of quite a spicy Valentine’s Night!

When you shop at Leo Foods, whether you are a trade or retail customer, you never have to let your culinary imagination be stifled by what is available on the standard supermarket shelves: we stock products from all over the world, so you can create a taste of the world in your kitchens.

Happy Valentine’s Day!
